I don’t know about you but, when my phone rings these days I say a silent prayer that there is nothing wrong when I answer it. It seems that these days there is always something going wrong in someone’s life: someone died, someone’s sick, someone’s in the hospital’ someone’s had an accident, someone’s not feeling well, someone has cancer, someone needs surgery, someone lost their job, etc. I am fully aware that these are all things that are a part of life but, it just seems that during this phase of my life there is a lot of it. We are at the age when medical issues arise. Our parents are at the age where many of them have constant medical issues. Our kids are always either getting sick or hurt at a sport activity. I get it but I don’t like it.
I miss the days of answering the phone and someone says “we got engaged” or “we’re having a baby” or “we got our first home”. Funny how things seemed so stressful then but it was also exciting and a new adventure. There is a country song by Trace Adkins called “Your’re Gonna Miss This” and boy is it true.
On the flip side, I love my people and that we all lean on each other in good times and in bad. I think the most important thing in life is to develop a circle of friends and family that you can count on for the good and the bad. Ken and I are blessed with a large circle that band together when needed and celebrate the good times as much as possible.
