I swear, just yesterday I was 22 and living the life. I was living on my own, working, partying, and having a great time with no real responsibilities. Those were the days. Now, I am 49 married with two teenagers and wondering where all the time has gone. I love my life, as crazy as it may be. Probably because I have a great support system with my family and friends (you will get to know about them eventually).
Mine is a bit of a crazy life. I have twin teenagers (one boy and one girl) who are very active. I also have wonderful husband of 16 years that works full time. In addition, we have a large extended family and are the main caregivers/support for our parents. This last part takes up almost as much time as taking care of the twins crazy schedules. These days my life consists of who needs to be driven where, what doctors appointments are this week, what appointments need to be made, who has a game and/or practice today, who needs groceries, what needs to be done around the house, what do I need to get done, etc. It is a crazy life but I would not change it for the world. Being part of the sandwich generation (raising kids and taking care of our parents) is a blessing even with all of the stress. The alternative, our parents are no longer with us which would break my heart.
I decided to start this blog for two reasons. First, as a way to share my experiences with the world so that others can see we are all struggling and you are not alone in this craziness. Secondly, as a way to share information and resources along the way. Knowledge is only power if you are willing to share it with others. I have been blessed with gathering a lot of resources through my professional and personal life that are very helpful to others. This will provide an outlet for me to share them with more people in hopes that it makes someones life a little easier. Stay tuned….much more to come.
